RIP Michael Jackson
Many would agree that Michael Jackson’s death on 25 June 2009 was shocking and unexpected. He was preparing for a new world tour when he collapsed at his mansion in Los Angeles. His personal phsycian tried to revive him but attempts were unsuccessful. The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics received a call at 12.22pm and they arrived 3 minutes later at the mansion. CPR was performed and attempts to resuscitate him en route to the hospital and at the hospital was unsuccessful. Michael was pronounced dead at 2.26pm local time.
News of his death was broadcast internationally. A memorial was held on 7 July 2009 at the Staples Centre in LA followed by a private family service at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park’s Hall of Liberty. Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Mariah Carey and others performed at the event. The highlight was Michael’s daughter, Paris Katherine who took to the stage and cried as she told the crowd "Ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine … I just wanted to say I love him … so much".
It was later reported at the coroner had decided to treat Michael’s death as a homicide. It was discovered that at the time of death, Michael had been given a series of medications. Currently, a manslaughter investigation is being conducted on Michael’s physician, Conrad Murray.
Michael Jackson was buried on 3 September 2009 at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in California. RIP Michael Jackson, King of Pop.
